1/6 of American households are "food insecure." This website is developed specifically for healthcare providers of all types to demonstrate and encourage
interested practices to begin (1) to screen their patient population for food insecurity, (2) to prescribe food, (3) to direct patients to local free food
resources and (4) get reimbursed. It tells the story of 1 pediatric private practice who successfully developed a process and how you can easily adopt
and adapt a similar process in your practice.
Through the Rx for Food program, doctors screen their patients for food insecurity and refer them to Food for Others with a prescription for food.
The total number of families served is 879, individuals served 3,927, and total weight of food distributed = 84,852 lbs.
